About Stand (for) Doctors

This isn’t just another healthcare platform, this is a movement.
I’m Kim Downey, and I started Stand Up for Doctors! with a fire in my heart and a single unwavering belief: the people who dedicate their lives to healing deserve to be seen, heard, and fiercely protected.
Every day, doctors and healthcare workers show up for their patients, for their calling, for moments of joy and grief that most will never witness. Yet behind the white coats and stethoscopes, there’s exhaustion. There’s frustration. There are tears shed in empty call rooms and the silent scream of a system that too often values metrics over humanity.
This is where we change that.
Here, we rage against burnout. We celebrate resilience. We demand better not just for physicians, but for every patient who trusts them with their life. Because when doctors are broken, healthcare shatters. And when they thrive? That’s when healing truly begins.
This is your platform. Your voice. Your chance to say, “Enough.” Whether you’re a clinician drowning in paperwork, a patient fighting for dignity, or simply someone who still believes medicine should be about people first, you are not alone.
Join me. Let’s turn pain into purpose, stories into strategy, and outrage into action. Together, we will heal healthcare one voice at a time.
About Kim

As the Community Ambassador for Medicine Forward and an Ambassador for the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation, I bring a unique perspective to healthcare as a physical therapist and three-time cancer survivor. My journey has given me deep insights into both the clinical and human aspects of medicine.
Through engaging conversations with countless physicians, I’ve gained a comprehensive understanding of the challenges they face—ranging from loss of autonomy and frustrations with EMRs to burnout and moral injury.
In my Substack newsletter and YouTube channel, “Stand Up (for) Doctors!” I amplify the voices of doctors, other healthcare professionals, and patients, as they share their struggles, triumphs, and passions. I love connecting physicians and building communities, showcasing the transformative power of the physician-patient relationship in reshaping the healthcare landscape.
My mission is to raise awareness, cultivate support, and promote physician wellness, driving positive change that benefits both doctors and patients.
