I’m Kim Downey, and I started Stand Up (for) Doctors! with a fire in my heart and one unwavering belief: The people who devote their lives to healing deserve to be heard, valued, and fiercely protected.
Every day, doctors and healthcare professionals step into rooms filled with hope, fear, urgency, and trust. They hold the hands of strangers, deliver life-changing news, and carry invisible weight most can’t imagine.
And yet behind the professionalism and quiet strength too many are struggling in silence.
There’s moral injury when doing the right thing comes at a cost.
There’s isolation in a system that often puts profits and paperwork ahead of patient care.
There’s a growing sense that something vital is being lost in medicine.
This is where we change that.
Here, we speak openly. We tell the truth. We recognize the emotional toll and the humanity behind the title of “doctor.” We create space not just for sharing, but for vision. Not just for survival, but for rebuilding.

About Kim
As the Community Ambassador for Medicine Forward and an Ambassador for the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation, I bring a unique perspective to healthcare as a physical therapist and three-time cancer survivor. My journey has given me deep insights into both the clinical and human aspects of medicine.
Through engaging conversations with countless physicians, I’ve gained a comprehensive understanding of the challenges they face, ranging from loss of autonomy and frustrations with EMRs to burnout and moral injury.
In my YouTube channel, “Stand Up (for) Doctors!” I amplify the voices of doctors, other healthcare professionals, and patients, as they share their struggles, triumphs, and passions. I love connecting physicians and building communities, showcasing the transformative power of the physician-patient relationship in reshaping the healthcare landscape.
My mission is to raise awareness, cultivate support, and promote physician well-being, driving positive change that benefits both doctors and patients.
